Question : I administered 5 mg dose of 2 months expired atarax syrup to my 10 year old son

Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern for the safety of the expired medication (Syrup Atarax).
Atarax (Hydroxyzine) belongs to the class of medications called antihistamines. It is used to relieve itching and other symptoms caused by allergic conditions.

For children over 6 years of age, the daily dose is 50 - 100 mg in divided doses.
So, the dose given to him was not high, so there is nothing to worry.

It can cause drowsiness, dry mouth, increase heart beats, blurring of the vision.
