How Safe Is To Give Atarax To Kid?

My baby who is now 1yr and 1month old was prescribed with Atarax by his allergist/dermatologist when he was only 9months old. I give him this medication every time he is having severe itchiness due to eczema. My question is that is it safe for my baby to take Atarax every now and then?

Hello,

The medicine is used for allergy, and also safe to give in kids but as per doctor's instructions. Although my advice to you is, do not use it without consulting the dermatologist. Because its dosage is dependent on patient's weight and age. In children, the imbalance of dosage can cause adverse effects.

As your child was prescribed this at the age of 9 months, as per his weight at that time. Now its better to consult the doctor first before administering the medicine for appropriate dosage.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
