Question : Hi. My mother is currently undergoing chemo therapy for lymphoma using a drug called rituxan. Her last treatment was two weeks ago and in the last couple of days she has started developing hives and is VERY itchy. She visiting me in my home for Christmas and is several states away from her doctor. Do I need to take her in to my hospital here?
The hives are on her face neck arms and legs

this can be a reaction after rituxan

Thanks for your query.

This kind of itching and urticarial rash can happen with rituxan. If there is no facial swelling, breathing trouble or other problems then treatment with simple anti allergics should do the job.
