Suggest Remedy For Severe Fatigue While Treating Fibromyalgia

default
Posted on Thu, 14 Jan 2016
Question: I have fibromyalgia and have found myself needing much more sleep than usual. I usually need about 9-10 hours, but am having spells of wanting to sleep all day or just being so tired during the day that I just don't think I can function. I also am dealing with some stomach problems while this is going on. I am going to the bathroom several times during the day with a lose stool, but not diarrhea. I also am having to get up several times during the night to go to the bathroom. I am on several meds for depression and Fibro, but have taken these for many years - started in 2003 and hasn't changed for at least five years. Because of pain, I take a trazodone 100 mg pill every night. No rash on any of my body. I do plan on seeing a doctor after Christmas, but was interested in knowing if you might have a suggestion of what to do between now and then. I find that drinking or eating dairy helps with the stomach pain. I do have a lot of flam in the stools.

Brief Answer:
The cause of sleepiness should be assessed first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Fibromyalgia is a condition that usually causes problems with sleeping.

Excessive sleeping cause should be evaluated further after the meeting with your Doctor.

Some possible conditions that may cause excessive sleep in your case are diabetes, anemia ( due to poor absorbed vitamins and iron ), depression disorder, or could be related to drowsiness caused by trazodone.

In mean time you should apply some home remedies to improve your condition such:

- try to avoid napping during the day

- fix a bedtime and awakening time

- avoid spicy food, alcohol or caffeine before sleep time

- exercise during the day

- use a lot of fluids during the day

So, before to try to improve your problems, the cause should be isolated first and this needs a medical evaluation together with tests.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

I remain at your disposal for further clarifications.

Take care.
