Suggest Treatment For Facial Acne And Black Heads While On Warfarin

Question: I started taking Xarelto back in January 2015. I have noticed that facial acne seems to be getting worse since that point in time. My skin seems to be even oilier than in past years when I was taking Warfarin as a blood thinner. Can you help ascertain if Xarelto could be causing some of my skin problems of late. I have noticed that my facial pores are filling up with black heads more than ever and I am developing more serious acne spots on my cheeks and neck.

I am so sorry to hear about this acne and oily skin that you have reported. i have reviewed the information on Xarelto and these are not reported or known side effects of this drug. Therefore, it is unlikely. However, because these seem to have started when you were switched to xarelto, it is possible for this to be a possible explanation which is not yet documented. My advise will be that you talk to your doctor and probably return to warfarin and if this improves while on warfarin, we can say xarelto is the possible cause.
