Question : My son is 11 years old and he has a bad rash on his back, groin, and underarms. Its red and itchy. He has one big patch on his back and the rest are all little ones. He has had it for 2 weeks and it seems to be getting worse. I took him to the doctor and he said that it is Pityriosis Rosea and not to worry, but it looks really bad and it seems like it is spreading. Could it be anything else?
Brief Answer:
Looking like pityriasis rosea only
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photograph and it is looking like pityriasis rosea only.
It is a self limiting viral infection which usually resolves in 8 weeks.
It usually spreads in the first 4 weeks and then gradually starts regressing.
Don't worry about it as it has been present for only 2 weeks and will progress for another 2-3 weeks before going in remission.
