Question: My spouse has a rash that is spreading on his buttocks. It started as what looked like a splinter, which we removed, but now it is spreading. There are white zit like pockets, that when scratched or damaged, weep clear fluid.

Brief Answer:
Insect bite dermatitis most probably

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic...

I read the history and reviewed the photo, then I should conclude that most probably your wife may be having insect bite dermatitis.

Kindly consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

Meanwhile, I would suggest...

- antihistaminics like Levocetirizine 5mg once daily at bedtime
- steroid in a tapering dose..means you have to reduce the dose at few days interval ---tab methyl prednisolone 4 mg thrice a day for 5 days, then 4 mg twice a day, then 4 mg once a day then to stop
- a short course of antibiotic- cap cefalaxine 250 mg thrice a day for a week
- apply antibiotic cream like sisomycine or mupirocine cream on the lesions

Avoid soap bath. Dettol liquid may be used for bath. Take precautions to prevent insects bite.

I hope this would help.

Thanks.
