Question : One of my ribs has been sore for a few days and today a large red area appeared around the spot. Is this just a sore rib?

I have seen the attached image. The large red area is more like a rash. It is not likely to be due to an injury or a musculoskeletal reason or a sore rib. This can be due to dermatitis, infection, insect bite or herpes. A direct examination by a dermatologist will help in detecting the proper cause.
Treatment will depend on the cause.
