Suggest Treatment For Upper Respiratory Infection

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: Hi....about 2 weeks ago I developed what I would call an upper respiratory infection. This happened shortly after a plane ride. I had a scratchy throat and a dry hacking cough that was worse at night. During the day I took claritin-D which I take everyday for allergies so the cough was better when I wasn't lying down. That seems to have gotten better, but I have also developed a skin rash on my face that occurred a week ago and seemed to go away, but has come back. The rash is mostly on my forehead and it is like a sunburn and a bit puffy. I'm thinking this might be another allergic reaction. I have been doing painting on my interior over this same period of time. I have had the Shingles shot when I was 62-63. I have been feeling OK, no fever or anything like that. Any input you might have is appreciated. Thanks!

Brief Answer:
get an ENT evaluation done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, it seems that you are having allergic symptoms along with Upper Respiratory Tract Infection ( URTI ).
I would suggest that you should get yourself clinically examined and investigated by an ENT specialist.
Following investigations may be helpful :-
1. Throat swab culture.
2. Complete Blood Count ( CBC ).
3. Allergy test.
4. IgE levels.
You can continue with Claritin-D. Warm saline gargles will have added benefits. Further medical management can be planned according to the clinical evaluation done by your doctor and according to the reports of the above mentioned investigations.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.
