What Are The Chances Of HIV Transmission Through Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Wed, 29 Jul 2015
Question: I am in USA and happened to go to a night club on friday night. I was somehow drank and met a strip dancer there and invited her to home. Conversation lead to kisses (I had a mouth ulcer, but no blood)

We started kissing and she started giving me an unprotected fellatio. I had condoms with with me, but decided not to go for insertive sex and did not give her a cunnilingus, but just kisses around her inner thighs. However she sat and my lap and i realised that she rubbed her outer vagina on my penis and i fingered her (No cuts or wounds in my fingers). After this incident i spoke to the girl about her STD status and she insisted that she had none, but I am still nervous and anxious. Please let me know the possibility of HIV transmission

Brief Answer:
The possibility of HIV transmission with oral sex is very less.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome to HCM.

First of all you have to be sure about the girl's HIV status and according to her she is negative so no need to worry.

Second, the risk of HIV transmission from oral sex is very less as compared to vaginal or anal sex so be relaxed and don't be so nervous or anxious.

Thank You

Thanks doctor..

Still i am afraid as she rubbed her vagina over my penis (never inserted)

I checked with her and she says she is a nurse and disease free, but works in a strop club as a part timer and can show me the latest std test reports, but has not seen it yet

Please advice

Brief Answer:
You had not done penetrative sex with the girl so risk of HIV is very less.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

As you had not gone for penetrative sex with the girl so the risk of getting HIV infection is very less.

If she is a nurse and saying that she is disease free than either you can trust her or you can go for HIV testing to be completely sure about your HIV status.

Answered by Dr. Sunil Jangid (22 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Yes you can go for HIV RNA PCR or p24 antigen test after 2 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

You had the incidence only 4 days back so at the earliest I will advice you to go for HIV RNA PCR or p24 antigen test after 2 weeks post exposure as these tests are conclusive in earlier period of infection if present.

Thank You

Brief Answer:
Single episode of diarrhea is not a symptom of HIV so no need to worry much

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

You need not to worry at all because chronic persistent diarrhea for more than 1 month is a symptom of HIV not just single episode so be relaxed.

Thank You

Thanks. I managed to get the last test she had taken in march for HIV and some other reports of her. I have attached the same for your reference and she has agreed to come with me for a HIV RNA test tomorrow for her. I will send you the same once I receive it to check if she had acquired anything recently
