Question : My daughter tests negative for yeast today but continues to have chronic yeast symptoms, and severe inflammation of the vagina and rectum (pain at an 8 on a scale of 1-10) We also just found out that she has celiac. In my research, I read that an individual with celiac who develops a yeast infection should be treated much more aggressively than a two day stint on diflucan.
What medical institution should I be taking her to at this point where we can get vaginal experts, to help figure out what is going on ? Been to world class institutions in NYC and the top ob-gyn who refuses to prescribe since the current yeast infection came out negative. I know she has yeast overgrowth in her intestine. She is worried that the vaginal inflammation will be permanent. How can I help relieve her pain ? Steroids have been prescribed but I read they contribute to thinning the walls of the vagina. Almost everything else burns her. I give her ice, but it is not very practical. Any advice as to how to get to the bottom of what is really going on here ?

Brief Answer:
Consultation with Rheumatologist is a must.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,

I understand your query and concern.

Definitely your daughter needs aggressive therapy to combat the yeast infections.

Certainly i agree with you that steroids can cause vaginal wall thinning.

She currently need to be treated with Liposomal Amphotericin B under the expert guidance of a medical disease specialist.

You need to consult an expert Rheumatologist for the management of Coeliac disease and a Pediatric/Adult Surgeon to manage her genito-intestinal yeast infections.

Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
