Question: Could you give me your opinion on the following blood test results:
Alkaline Phosphates serum 33

Lipid Panel : ( fasting test)
Cholesterol total: 204

I am a vegetarian and have been eating healthy all my life.

Brief Answer:
Serum cholesterol is slightly raised.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM for your query.
I appreciate your concern for the result of the lab investigations.

The only thing that is not normal in your lipid profile is Serum Total Cholesterol.
The normal value is up to 200 mg/dL.
Hence your cholesterol is slightly borderline high.
Usually drug treatment is not necessary in absence of other diseases like diabetes, high BP or heart disease.

HDL cholesterol is a 'GOOD' lipid (fat) in the sense it reduces the levels of 'BAD' lipids such as cholesterol and LDL cholesterols by transporting them to the liver where they can be recycled or re utilized.
This is how it reduces the chances of fat deposition (atherosclerosis) in to the blood vessels,
Aerobic exercise for 30 to 60 minutes on 7 days of the week can increase the level of HDL.

Heart disease is associated with a number of preventable factors like high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, high blood pressure, and obesity.

Lifestyle changes can make a big difference for most people and may prevent heart disease and stroke.
Daily exercise for about 30-60 minutes, avoidance of oily foods will bring back the level of cholesterol to its normal or low.
Continue to take the vegetables and fruits in your diet as they contain certain substances which can reduce the bad cholesterol and thereby reduce the chance of atherosclerosis.

I hope your query is being answered.
Should you have any doubt, please feel free to send your query.
Best regards.
