What Causes Elevated Triglyceride Levels And Slight Fibrosis Of Liver?

Question: Hello Doctor. I am living in Netherlands with my wife who is a Type 2 diabetic patient. She is 33 years of age weighing 87kg (5ft8in) and also have other complications like high Triglyeceride and slight fibrosis of Liver. She had a very high blood sugar count of around 20mmol (360 mg/dl). The doctors over here are only treating her with insulin of a total dosage of 70 units (12 units each 3 times before meal and a long term dosage of 36 at night) daily. But still the blood sugar level is not coming under 9 (which is around 162 ) as the recommended is under 7 ( and under 5 during pregnancy). They are now suggesting to use an insulin pump. My question is she used to have Glyciphage SR 1000 medicine in XXXXXXX , but unfortunately the same composition is not available in Europe/Netherlands. Can she try that medicine ( I will get it from India) along with the inslin dosage. Thanks in advance for your response.

Brief Answer:
Diabetes

Detailed Answer:
It is good to note you understand the importance of good glucose control, of course with minimal hypoglycemia (low glucoses reactions).

Glyciphage is a good choice of medication for treating type 2 diabetes.

There are situations where it cannot be used because it is either unsafe to use or is not tolerated by the individual.

Examples include kidney, heart, lung or liver failure.

Just like any other medicine, prescribing glyciphage requires a licensed medical practitioner to consider whether or nor this medication is appropriate for the person being treated.

Any generic version of glyciphage SR 100o should work equally well. So see if you can discuss this with her doctor.
If she is found to be a good candidate for this medication ,it is very likely her insulin doses will come down
