Instead of Zantac take Ilaprazole as it is more potent
Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).
Presence of heartburns and pressure in the chest that is aggravated by food intake suugest reflux disease.
Zantac is H2 antagonist which has less efficacy than the available proton pump inhibitor class. Like rabe prazole, pantoprazole, ilaprazole. And among these Ilaprazole is most potent proton pump inhibitor available at present with minimal side effects. So I will advise you to take one tablet of Ilaprazole 10mg once a day before breakfast. Also take one prokinetic agent like domepridone for better results. It comes by the name of lupila-D by Lupin company. To be taken once daily half hr before breakfast.
Also few lifestyle modifications are required like:
1.Avoid fatty and spicy meals
2. Don’t lie down soon after meals for at least two hour
3.Take small and frequent meals, instead of full meals at a time
4. wear loose clothes
5. If you are overweight or obese do weight reduction with dieting and exercise
6. Avoid smoke or alcohol if you take
7. Avoid citrus fruits like lemon, orange etc
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
