What Causes Itchy Rashes On The Body While Sweating?

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Dec 2016
Question: My 15 year old son complains that he itches when he is hot and/sweats. Itching comes first then a rash lasting until he cools down. I gave him zyrtec which only helped for a couple of weeks. He is turning the air conditioner on to 60 degrees Fahrenheit just to keep the itching under control. Meanwhile, I'm freezing. What's going on and how do I help him?

Brief Answer:
Could also be due to fungal infection.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

It seems that your son has a fungal infection of the skin. Application of candid (clotrimazole) powder or lotion should provide relief. Give Zyrtec once daily for a few days when required.

His thyroid profile needs to be checked. Low thyroid levels could give rise to the preference of cold temperatures.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
