Question : I am feeling a numbness from my upper thigh and into the front hip area...onlly on left side...what could it be and is it serious?

It seems to be a condition that affects the nerve ,which supplies sensation to this area.
The most common cause is a condition called Meralgia Paresthetica,which is a disorder caused by compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve.
The symptoms include numbness in the outer part of thigh .

The most common causes of nerve compression may include obesity ,past injuries or surgeries in hip area (inguinal hernia surgery etc), wearing tight belts,tight pants etc.

I would suggest to consult your physician to confirm the diagnosis .The treatment consist in relieving the compression on nerve.
