Question : I have been having issues with "feeling" my heart racing, however my pulse and b/p are fine. I went to the ER yesterday because my chest was hurting and I felt like my right side of my face was numb. They did a 12 ECG, chest ray and blood work which all came back normal. I still have that racing feeling in my chest. They said I had panic attacks. I am gonna followup with my primary. My question is, they gave me hydroxyzine. Does that help with any of my issues?
Brief Answer:
Hydroxizine was given to lower anxiety.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic
As per your query hydroxizine was given to lower the levels of anxiety as doctors were suspecting it to be a panic attack. It is basically a antihistaminic which works like anti anxiety medicine also.
Though not asked yet these are not the dug of choice if it is panic attack you should be treated with SSR's and Anxiolytics.
