                                            Question : Dear Doctor-
Since 15 days I had problem listening properly with my left ear and had pulsating sounds. I visited a doctor a week ago and he has examined my ears, ear drums and they were perfectly fine. He said that the tube connecting the ear with the throat is blocked and hence because of the vacuum, I am not able to hear properly. I was put on (1) fluticasone furoate nasal spray twice daily (2) Ambroxol capsule (3) Cetzine A tablets. I have been using the medication religiously and the pulsating sounds seemed to subside but I am still having difficulty hearing properly with my left ear. I was asked to undergo some audiometry, Vitamin D3 tests before I see him again.
On a family persons advice, I went for a second opinion (exactly after a week) and the second doctor told me that the left ear drum had appeared retracted. He asked me not to sneeze hard/blow my nose hard. He prescribed (1) montelukast tabs (2) fluticasone nasal spray (3) xylomist nasal drops and (4) methylprednisolone tablets to be used twice daily for a week and slowly tapered down.
I am not sure what exactly caused the retraction of the ear drums. I have questions now regarding what course I need to continue. Can I wait until I see the first doctor with the reports?
Kindly please advice. Thank you. XXXXXXX

                                    Brief Answer:
Eustachian tube dysfunction
Detailed Answer:
From your history, u have eustachian tube dysfunction. Both doctors have made almost same diagnosis. Before proceeding furthur, i would recommend you to go for a pure tone and impedance audiometry, this ll tell us the disease.
For now stick to the medications by first doctor, also take steam inhalation and do valsalva manoeuvre.
It ll take few days for the things to be normal
