What Causes Rash That Is Not Itching Or Spreading?

default
Posted on Sat, 31 May 2014
Question: What could this rash be? I've had it a few months now. Does not itch. No other symptoms. It seems to get redder after laying on my back or a hot shower. How can I get rid of it?

Brief Answer:
stretching of the skin

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for the query, I will do my best to help.

It appears that you are pregnant, although you didn't mention that in your question. A rash like you show in the picture that lasts for several months during pregnancy and does not itch, does not spread, is usually benign and not a serious problem. It is pretty common, and it is thought to be most likely due to stretching of the skin. If it spreads, or develops an itch or worsening symptoms, you should see your doctor. But if it stays the way it is, you have nothing to worry about.

If you aren't pregnant, please let me know, and if you have any more questions, please let me know.

Regards,
