What Causes Recurrent Itching And Swelling Around Eyes?
Question: My Dr. has prescribed hydroxyzine HCL TAB 25mg in the past to relieve itching and swelling around my eyes. It helped considerably. I am now suffering from this again and the same Dr. reports that she can
not give me another prescription because the FDA (or Medicare --- I don't know which) does not want
it to be taken by people over the age of 65 years. She had me tried OTC benzadrene and other OTCs
but they don't help. Can you advise why hydroxyzine is withheld to people over age 65?

In elderly enlarged prostate is common problem and this medication is should not be taken in enlarged prostate condition as it aggravates problem. of heart, kidney or liver problems past or present, I still cannot
understand why Kaiser Permanente (my HMO) or Medicare would
deny me hydroxyzine. Please elaborate further.

Liver, kidney and heart function test reports are necessary to know functional level of these organs, With out getting test done its difficult to predict functional level of these organs. Your doctor would have denied because of no records on these organs functional level.
