What Causes Reddish Rash On The Penis?

Question : Have had a reddish rash like condition on side of penis gland for year or more. No pain, itching or scaling. Lotion has no affect in reducing or elimination condition. I'm not comfortable discussing this with my dermatologist. Thanks.
