Question: Hi there i am coming to the end of having vertigo from an inner ear infection. Last week i had a massive panic attack which caused hot flushes and tingling in hands and arms. My Doctor prescribed me Lovan to help with my anxiety i tried for 3 days but the side effects were horrible i have slept more than 3 hours per night since last week. The tingling in my hands and arms are still tingling i a still using them they are tingly but not numb. Sometimes i get a little tingling in my legs but not often. Not much sleep for a week is taking its toll also.SOrry what i meant was i have not slept more than 3 hours any night for at least a week now.

Brief Answer:
you need to relax.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Your doctor has done the right thing by prescribing fluoxetine. I am keen to know specifically what side effects you have observed. Lovan (fluoxetine) is a very effective medicine and is usually tolerated well. However, its anxiolytic effects are rather long term and may take a month or two to set in properly. Till then you can discuss with your treating physician about taking alprazolam or zolpidem alongside. These medicines should take care of your sleep.

Another simple technique that you can follow:
* Do not take coffee or any stimulant before going to bed.
* After going to bed inhale slowly over 4 seconds (count mentally). Then hold for 7 seconds. Then exhale slowly over 8 seconds. Continue to do this and you would sleep faster and better.
* Limit the fluid intake before going to bed.

If the tingling over your hands and body still does not resolve it would be a good idea to viist a neurologist and to get yourself evaluated. Taking methylcobalamine capsules once daily should help.
