What Do Several Small, Red Bumps Around The Penis Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Sep 2015
Question: beginning of July, I started getting several small red bumps around my penis shaft. they caused no pain, didn't itch, never formed a head or blister, and they were dry. over the course of a few weeks.. they turned into more of a rash, and at one point had a bit of an odor dispite staying clean. I have HPV and don't know if this is a symptom of it.. but it has been incredibly stressful and worrisome.. I've kept it clean and refrained from all sexual contact.. it appeared to be healing and even looked as if the slightly pink skin where the rash was had started to fade back to normalcy.. then, without warning, I woke up this morning, and it was like it is in the picture attached.. I don't know what to do, my doctor said he can't test for herpes because their is no blister to take a sample from.. and all the research I've done shows symptoms that are not typical with HSV... also.. HSV clears up after 4 weeks or so.. and its been 2 months..

Brief Answer:
Appears like balanitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for your query at HCM.

It appears that the rash is due to balanitis less likely HSV. Get your blood sugar levels checked. Apply triple action cream locally on the lesion twice daily for one week. Follow up after the completion of treatment. If there is no discharge no problem. Still you can get swab collection done at accredited laboratory after submerging the swab in normal saline and rub over the area and get it tested for gram staining and culture sensitivity for bacterial infections and fungal infections. Maintain the genital hygiene and refrain from sexual activities.

Hope I answered your query.
