In papillary carcinoma thyroid we keep the TSH lower than normal
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your questions and understand your concerns.
After thyroid surgery, you are hypothyroid. In papillary carcinoma thyroid we give higher dose of thyroxine ( Thyronorm) to keep the TSH low so that you won't have a recurrence of cancer.
The TSH value is kept below 0.1 in high risk papillary carcinoma, below 0.5 in intermediate risk and below 2 in low risk carcinoma. Probably you are having high risk papillary carcinoma and your doctor has increased the dose of thyroxine to bring the TSH below 0.1.
The priority in papillary carcinoma is given for prevention of recurrence. Hair loss may not be related to thyroid illness.
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further questions, I will be pleased to help you.
Regards
Dr Ajish TP
