1 Month Late Period. Negative Pregnancy Tests. History Of Hypothyroidism, Had Surgery. Any Ideas?

Hi, I am seeking information because I am almost a whole month late on my period. Not sure what is going on and I took a home test and it came out negative. I don't have insurance so I'm not sure what it could be. What do you suggest I have been feeling weird and not so well recently. But I do have a history of hypothyroidism. I had surgery back in Aug of 2012 had a thyroidectomy but been having periods every month and now this will be the first month I have not had one.

hi.. thanks for using HCM..
you have delayed period..and has hypothyriodism.. but hypothyriodism causes menorrhagia..
see your endocrinologist and get thyriod profile done.. get adjust the dose of throxine..
you have got urine pregnancy test done, and it is negative..
get one serum HCG done, which is conclusive for the diagnosis..

Hi thanks for your question.
Pregnancy test turns out positive 40 to 45 days after last cycle. The reasons for negative test could be that, you might have gone for test little earlier. The other cause for delayed periods could be hypothyroidism, since you have already got your thyroid removed. Chances of hypothyroidism are more. You have not mentioned how much thyroxin you are taking as replacement for your thyroid hormone. Get your thyroid level checked you may need a little increase in the replacement dose of thyroid hormone.
