15 Weeks Pregnant, Thin Myometrium Lining. What Does This Mean?

I am 15 weeks pregnant, and my doctors have sent me to different hospitals for my ultrasounds because my myometrium lining is thin. I've asked him what that could mean, on the good and bad side of things, with very little response. Could there be something wrong if my myometrium lining is thin during this pregnancy? What does that mean exactly?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Myometrium is the middle layer of the uterus. It is mainly responsible for the stretching of the uterus.
Thin myometrium can be seen in some women with hypoplastic uterus.
When the myometrium is thin, the uterus may not get stretched with progression of pregnancy.
That can lead to problems like abortions, premature labor, dehiscence of the uterine wall etc.
This can be prevented to some extent by using uterine tocolytics, progesterone supplementation etc.
Better to use these drugs till the fetus gets maturity.
So you discuss these things with your doctor and follow her advice.
Take care.
