3 Year Child, Bug Bites Around Penis, Swelling. Applying Chiggerex Ointment. Suggestions?

Hi, my 3 year old son has gotten about 8 or so bug bites around his penis 2 nights ago. He was playing on a slip and slide in his underware so may be chiggers? One of the bites is right on the side of his penis and just keeps swelling. The swelling in that area is now about the size of the end of his penis. It looks awful. He has been letting me put some Chiggerex ointment on them but the one directly on the penis he keeps scratching and it just keeps swelling. What to do? Feel awful for the little guy. Hi Brittany,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

I advise you to apply a calamine containing lotion externally over skin to decrease skin itching.

If the itching is severe an oral antihistamine like hydroxyzine can be given in prescribed dose.

Consult the pediatrician for physical examination and for the treatment advise.

Hi, the patient is a child, and needs an urgent treatment. It may be a bite, or a blester, dont worry the treatment is almost same for both.
I to my patient wit such symptoms prescribe cifixime syp, betnesol oral drops, anti inflamatory syp. and a mild steroid for local application.
