3 Year Old Child, Excess Yellowish, Wet Rheum, Burning Sensation In Nose, Crusty Eyes. Suggestions?
my 3yo has been having excess rheum for past 2-3days. He gets up a few times at night crying for water to drink & coz his nose was having burning sensation due to dryness despite running humidifiers in the room. In the morning when he woke up with crusty eyes(esp the right eye) i thought it was bcoz of crying but today i realized that he has rheum build up in his eyes even in the day. ive been cleaning his eyes like every hour. It is yellowish n wet. is there any eye drops I could possibly use for him? or is it a seasonal allergy n could i use benadryl?
Hello: It is likely that you child has conjunctivitis, which is an eye infection that may be caused by viruses or bacterias. You may try to cleanse his eyes with saline solution to remove the crust, but he needs to be evaluated by his pediatrician since it appears that he will need a prescription for antibiotic eye drops.
