3 Year Old, Fever. Blood Tests Done. What Does Findings Suggest?
my son, age 3yrs. had fewer in last month. temperature 100 to 102 degree. 2 times in a day and 2 times in night for 10 days. He has recovered from fewer after medicine of doctor. Doctor suggested Blood Test. Widal Test indicates S.TYPHI O 1:120 and S.TYPHI H 1:80; Diagnostic Titre 1:80 , Leucocytes 13,500. Doctor has said its due to bacterial infection. Does he has Typhoid symptoms or all is well ? Any specific precautions need to be taken. Thank.
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. Blood culture for Salmonella organisms is diagnostic of typhoid fever. This is the gold standard Clinically typhoid presents as continuous fever ,step ladder type, pain abdomen, pea soup stools,toxic appearance Diagnostic titre for typhoid is 1:160. Now that one month passed after remission of fever, hence nothing to worry.
