54 Year Old, Irregular Periods, Painful, Bloody Mucus Discharge. Is This Related To Premenopause?

I am 54 years old and have, throughout my life, had periods like clockwork. Suddenly this year I've been experiencing very heavy irregular periods. Sometimes 2 per month. But the from July to October it was almost constant. They are also very painful. Since October I have occasional flooding but many days just a bloody mucus discharge. It seems to be improving, but I am mildly concerned about the pain. I keep telling myself it will go away. Should I be concerned or is this a normal part of perimenopause?

Hello ma'am and welcome.

This is completely related to menopause/perimenopause. I would not think this is anything to wory about, but just to rule out other causes and to help provide relief from any worrying symptoms, it would be best to visit a doctor.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
