This may be age related changes of the brain and may progress faster with co morbid conditions like Diabetes and hypertension. Due to ischemia(lack of blood supply) there is degeneration of the brain matter and this causes confusion and memory loss. medical care is needed to slow the progression of the disease. Neurologist may be able to help your mother in this condition.
