7 Year Child, Suffering Form Cold. Is It Safe To Give Claritin To A 7 Year Child?

my granddaughter whom is 7 yrs. old. She has a cold which caused her to blow her noise quite often today while visiting me whom I am her grandmother. I had given her a raw onion with her sandwich for lunch to clear up her since post nasal drip.
I told her mother about this issue and she told me that she would give my 7 yr old granddaughter Claritin . She is only 7 yrs. old. Can she give this to my granddaughter ?

Claritin is quite safe and may be given to a child her age. This drug has been around for many years and is now over the counter and safe for any child over 4 years of age, though we even use it in younger kids sometimes.
