76 Years. Increased Dizziness Intensity. History Of Concussion From Hitting Head On Concrete Followed By Dizziness. C Scans Negative. Help
My wife had a concussion from hitting the back of her head on concrete. C scans negative on her head, neck, and shoulders. For the first 10 days she was dizzy when moving from one place to another, but when sitting still she was not dizzy. In the last couple of days she is dizzy all the time and is not safe to even use a walker. So after falling today I am assisting her with the use of a wheelchair. Is it normal for the dizziness to increase in intensity at this point when we are 2 weeks from the fall? How long does such dizziness last? She is 76 yrs and 10 months old. We have been under the care of a local trauma center and our own primary care doctor. Thank you, Garry Timmons, Lincoln, Nebraska
The symptoms of dizziness due to concussion would not worsen, once improvement has started. It should continue to improve over time, and people get well in 7-10 days, however, occasionally it may take upto 6 weeks.
So, in this case, she needs to be evaluated to find out the reason for her constant dizziness, which could be something other than concussion.
Hope it helps.
