8 Month Old Child, Suffering From High Fever. On Crocin, Two Doses Given. Overdose Harmful?
my baby is 8month old n havin fever since last night. Now i hv given her crocin 5ml without knowing dt my mother in low also gave d same amount of crocin before 3hrs. Im afraid of overdose, what shall i do? But the fever is still constant at 102. Degree even after giving crocin n cold sponging. She is nt havin running nose or cough . Please reply as soon as possible... I am geting afraid. Please
Hi,
Crocin at the dose of 10-15 mg/kg/dose can be given every 6-8 hourly.
For 8 months child average weight 8-10 kg 5 ml is ok.
There is no problem with one extra dose.
If the fever is not getting down with crocin you can give Syrup Meftal P at
dose of 2-3 mg per kg per dose i.e around 2-3 ml to your child every 8 to
12 hourly along with tepid sponging.
You should consult with your pediatrician for complete examination and find
out the cause of fever.
