Abdominal Pain. Had Abdominal Scan Showing Edematous Mucosal Thickening, Sigmoid Colon, Suggestive Of Partial Malrotation

Sir, Yesterday there was pain in my mother s stomach. So our family doctor suggest to go for Abdomen CT scan , todays the result came which is as follows :- 1.Mild edematous mucosal thickening seen involving splenic flexure, descending and sigmoid colon with mildly increased surrounding pericolonic fat stranding and venous congestion, most likely suggestive of infective/inflammatory etiology 2.Non crossing of duodenum to left side anterior to aorta with aggregation of jejunal loops on right side and ilial loops in the pelvis, suggestive of partial malrotation 3.mild bilateral renal cortical scarring

Hello and welcome to Health Care Magic

The CT report suggets that the abdominal pain is due to some malpositioning of the small intestinal loops. This malpositioning has resulted in congestion of the mucosa of the large intestine in the splenic flexure, descending colon and sigmoid colon. All these structures are various parts of the large intestine.
A cause has to be sought out for the malpositioning.

Thr bilateral cortical scarring indicates that there is some abnormality in the kidney functions, reflux of urine back from the urinary bladder to the kidney.
This leads to scarring in the kidney.

You need to consult a gastrosurgeon and urologist for the abdominal pain and for the kidney problem respectively.
