What Causes Abdominal Pain After Intestinal Surgery?

My 33 year old daughter was diagnosed with malrotation of the intestines at age 16 and had corrective surgery. The surgery had to be repeated at age 18. She is having chronic abdominal pain again. We were told at the time that she would always have to see a pediatrician, but those who dealt with it at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville are long gone from the area and the new practice will not accept her as an adult. Can you recommend anyone in the Middle Tennessee area who can deal with this problem.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your 33 year old daughter having had 2 surgeries for malroatation of gut when she was 16 and 18 years old, and still the chronic pain persists.
You can always get her enrolled again as per the laws in your area/country.
I can advise you the following for the pains she has.
- To get Bariun studies or enteroclysis and Contrast enhanced CT scan of the abdomen to know the exact cause of her pains.
This can be adhesion, sub-acute intestinal obstruction, lymph node enlargement, some gyne problems.
A second opinion of a Gynecologist to rule out any gyne problems is most welcome and once this cause is ruled out we can concentrate on any abdominal issues for which I would advise her the following:
Consult a General Surgeon or a Surgical Gastroenterologist to get the correct diagnosis and to go for further management, wither medical or surgical as may be required.
