Allergic To Citrus Foods. Prescribed Lobate Ointment. Does It Have Any Side Effects?

Hello,

Recently I am getting allergic to Citurs foods like lemon, tamarind etc. When I consulted a physician in my home town, he suggested me "Lobate" oinment and it proved to be really effective. All my rashes due to citric allegry are solved on using Locate. Its been few years that he suggested this oinment. But I offline use it when I get rashes/allergy in my face on eating lemon ocassinally. Wanted to check if that is ok? or should this oinment be applied only with physician suggestion. Does this have any side effects?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
The drug in question contains Clobetasol propionate is a corticosteroid used to treat various skin disorders. It is used in allergy also.
If you have allergy to citrus fruits it is best to avoid them.
It has very high potency and typically should not be used for extended continuous use (beyond two weeks).
It can cause Hypopigmentation,Itching,Irritation,Secondary infection,Skin atrophy,Skin maceration,Cracking and fissuring, & Cushing's syndrome.
Please consult Dermatologist for it's use.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
Good Luck.
