Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, Yesterday I had diarrhea not sure if food poisoning. Today I have a rash on my upper stomach. I took 2 benadryl, but not sure if it's related to diarrhea episode or if it's something else. Also my left ear and left side of throat seem sore. Any ideas?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Diarrhea with rash on the stomach is indicative of food poisoning, say rather intestinal infection with bacterimia or septicemia giving the rash. Viral exenthema can present the same way. I would advise you the following: Since this can turn out to be a complicated case, best way is to meet a Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of stool, blood and urine and get treated in an appropriate way with an antibiotic active against intestinal infection. Add on probiotics, activated charcoal and a PPI like Omeprazole. Also continue Benedryl and other medications as will be advised by your Doctor.
