Ankle Injury, Swelling, Bruise Spreading To Leg And Heels. X-ray Necessary?
I got hit in the ankle with a hockey ball on Friday. I iced it, elevated and used a compression bandage. It has continued to swell and the bruising is spreading now down my foot to my heal, along towards my toes and also up my leg. it hurts to walk but I can walk on it. Longer periods of walking cause further swelling. do I need an xray or continue to just assume its badly bruised and persist with RICE?

Hi, Well first of all you shouldnt be exercising or putting weight on that ankle, it may make things worse. And yes you should get a check up done as soon as possible, while the result of the check up may just be that you need to rest that ankle, it is always best to be cautious. After-all if is injured badly, not treating as soon as possible will increase the time you need to recover. I hope this helped.
