Ankle Swelling, Pain, Soreness, Unable To Walk. Hip Replacement Surgery Done. Treatment?

I had a hip replacement in Sept. of 2010. Lately I have noticed my ankle hurts ( same leg as replacement ) ankle is sore and sometimes swollen, can t understand what is going on. It happened a week ago but not severe and then yesterday was so sore could hardly walk. Today I have been icing it. Should I take a pain med or what?

I would suggest you to get ankle x ray and see if any abnormality with the bone is there. If x ray is normal then I would suggest you to apply compression bandage, Tablet Brufen and hot water fomentation. It may be a possibility that for the protection of hip replacement you are putting more weight on affected side.
