Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ants Attracted To Child's Urine, Wet Pants. No Signs Of Diabetes. Reason?
For the last two to three months, we have observed that ants are attracted to our 18 month old son's urine and wet pants. He usually urinates at 30 minute intervals after consuming liquids. He is exhibiting no other symptoms of diabetes, like weight loss or excessive hunger, thirst, fatigue, etc. I am very worried as my father-in-law is diabetic, although no other relatives are. Does the above symptom alone give reason to suspect my child has diabetes
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Ants may be attracted to urine. It is normal. It is not the criteria to establish diabetes mellitus. Anyway, if you have a family history of diabetes mellitus, so it can be confirmed. Random blood sugar can be done and it will also relieve your anxiety. Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Indu Kumar
