Anxiety And White Coat Syndrome When BP Is Checked. Prescribed Deanxit Tablets. Safe Medication?

Hi Doctor,
I have been prescribed Deanxit tablets 1 per day in the afternoon by my doctor for 1 month. She noticed I have white coat syndrome when i go for a bp checkup, also some level of anxiety. Could you please let me know if these tablets are safe to be used? Can i withdraw from them a month later? Thanks for your help in advance..

Hi

Deanxit contains flupentixol and melitracen. Though it can be prescribed for anxiety, it is not the first drug of choice. It has some side effects and contraindications. Thus it has to be taken with caution. My suggestion is to consult your physician to know other options.

Usually medicines are not needed for white-coat hypertension, but investigations should be carried out to find a cause of high BP.
