Any Suggestion For Severe Back, Shoulder, Arm Pain When Having Bulging Disc?

hi..doctor,how r u?
i m lija,since 5 years i am having back pain and shoulder pain.now its severe pain i can't do anything even writing also.my back pain is radiating to legs and shoulder pain radiating to both shoulder and right arm,now i done MRI in that i have mild posterior central and lateral disc bulge seen at L4-5,degenerative changes are noted in L4-5 disc,focal fatty deposition is noted in L4-L5..i am unmarried and i am working as a staff nurse .so i can't do my job also.what i will do for my pain and for this disc bulge.

I carefully read your question and understand your concern.

The irradiating pain in the legs should be treated with AINS (acetaminophen, iburprofen, naproxen) coupled with muscle relaxants (like flexeril).

You should have some rest for at least 2 weeks and avoid prolonged standing up or sitting position. Weight lifting should also be avoided.

Holding a lumbar brace and performing physiotherapy may be helpful.

If the pain persists, I would recommend consulting with a neurosurgeon and discussing surgery as a possible treatment option.
