Hi,

Proluton injection contains hydroxyprogesterone and is used to prevent premature labor in pregnant women in order to reduce the risk of giving birth too early. It prevents miscarriage and lower the risk of premature birth in women who have had one premature delivery in the past. Do not worry. This drug does not cause any harm to the fetus and in fact beneficial in prolonging the pregnancy to term.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
