Are Swelling And Pain In The Legs A Serious Matter?
My mother’s legs are swelling up like a boot size on each leg. The Dr gave her sime water pills (duretic) but the swelling that was at the ankle before taking the pill has extended almost to the knee after starting the pill. Whe I touch her legs, she says it hurts. What can we do? Is this a serious case?Thank you.

Painful leg swelling not responding with antibiotics means possibility of cellulitis or deep vein thrombosis. Cardiac or renal failure also may cause swelling of limbs. please check renal function and liver,cardiac function status. Get it done color doppler of lower limbs. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
