Are There Any Natural Remedies To Treat Seizures Due To Epilepsy?

My son has epilepsy since the age of 4 months, he is now 7 years old. He has other health issues - severe developmental delay and vision impaired. Over the past few months his epilepsy has been noticabily worse. He has grand mal seizures where he vomits after having one. The medication he takes are epilim liquid 9.5 Mel's bd and lamictal 35 mg bd. is there any natural remedies that I can try at home to help him have at least one seizure free day?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your son's clinical details. It is unfortunate that he continues to have seizures despite being on anti-epileptic medications.

Epilim (sodium valproate) and lamictal (lamotrigine) are good and effective anti-epileptic medications.

If seizures do not get adequately controlled with medications (called as refractory epilepsy), he should be evaluated for a possibility of epilepsy surgery. This would include doing video EEG and MRI brain-epilepsy protocol.

There are no home remedies of refractory seizures.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
