Burning And Stinging Sensation In Vaginal Area, Cyst On Labia Minora. On Antibiotic For Fungal Infection. Any Recommendations?

I am having burning and stinging sensation in vaginal area. Vagina looks normal but gyn gave me antibiotic for bacterial infection and one for fungal even though did not culture. No discharge either. Took meds and no relief. Now I developed a pea sized cyst on my labia minora that has erupted and only dark blood comes out of it. Could this cyst have been the cause of all my symptoms?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Sometimes pelvic infection may not have obvious external findings but by examination and ultrasound internal changes can be determined.
May be because of that your doctor might have recommend antibiotic treatment to you.
Coming to your pea sized lump, possibly that could be a Bartholin cyst.
Bartholin gland lies behind the vaginal opening. The duct of the gland opens between the upper two thirds and lower one third of the labia minora.
When the duct gets blocked, it will form a cyst. Usually these type of cysts may not lead to symptoms.
If the size of the cyst increases that can lead
to difficulty during intercourse. And if the cyst gets infected, that can form a abscess.
So consult your gynecologist again, and get examined.
By examination the exact nature of the lump can be identified and treated.
Take care.
