Can I Give My Mother Nuedexta?

My mother has alzheimers and suffers from continuous PBA crying spells. I know that Nuedexta has not been extensively studied yet for effectiveness in dementia type patients, but I m wondering if many doctors are prescribing the medication due to their success with such patients.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
hii sear
alzeimer is irreversible progressive dementia
and goal of treatment is to stop progression
no any drugs can help in reverse it

Nuedexta is dextromethorphan

new research is coming in multiple sclerosis and pseudo bulbar effect

but it is not useful in Alzheimer

u can try donepezil, mementine , rivastigmine etc

sometime psychiatrical complain associated with dementia like
pathological crying and irritability

than consult psychiatrist and evaluate everything

medicines like tiaparide , low dose of risperodone are helpful in this case

but proper consultation is needed because in old age dose modifications is must
so consult doctors
take care
thank you
