Can I Let Child Take Medication For Concentration Problem When Having ADHD?

Should i let my son take a medication because he can not concentrate and he was diagnosed with ADHD when he was grade 1. now he is 15. He did very well in school for every year( A student)- because i support him. Also, he is a good boy he tries hard. One thing that worry me a lot that He shows a symptoms of stress- anxiety and he peels his fingers(all 10 fingers
) skin until bleed(since grade 5). He had seen the specialist but the doctor said that "he did well in school- no worry- and don't think about ADHD anymore. When he has a low mark then come back to see me"

i dont think he needs any medication for thses symptoms, but in turn he needs to be handled with emotional bonding,he needs counselling, motivitional support and at times behaviour therapy.
