Can Levetiracetam Be Given To Treat Seizures After Head Injury?

My son is 47 and taking Levetiragetam 500mg twice per day, every 12 hours. He is extremely tired, aches all the time and does not have the energy to go to work. He had a seizure due to a head injury he had when he was 12 years old. When he had the seizure I called 911, he was admitted to the hospital where they prescribed this medicine. He has been taking this medicine for two weeks now. He has a doctor appt. but not until Jan 2nd. Should he continue with this medication. Please help me. Thank you so much.

Hello,
Yes. He have to continue the medicine Levetiracetam till you consult your treating physician.
It is usual to have the tiredness and weakness after taking the anticonvulsants.
These are more common during the first 4 weeks and usually lessen as your body adjusts to the medication.
If he will not take any anticonvulsants like Levetiracetam, he may get seizures.

Hope this helps.
Please write back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
